Kids’ Open Studio is an opportunity for families to attend on a drop-in basis and children are encouraged to experiment and work independently without the constraints of a particular goal. This is a time for children to explore building, banging, cutting, pinching, rolling, etc… with a hunk of clay. Studio staff are available to help everyone get started, make suggestions and problem-solve, though we consider this a non-instructional activity. Pottery wheels are generally not available during Kid’s Open Studio, though exceptions may be made for kids ages 10 and up with prior wheel experience at Midwest Clay Project. One-hour lessons are available for $30. Kids’ Open Studio is best suited to children 4-16 years of age.
Fee: $10/child + firing fee ($5-$15 -depending on the size of the object)
